St Mary's Westwood with Jacksdale

What are our services like?

Here's how our services work out.

On the 1st Sunday of the Month at 10.30am we close our church and join with our sister church St. Helen's at Selston for Morning Worship.

Then at 4.00pm St. Mary's is open for First-Sunday-Fun-For-All-The-Family.

This is an action packed 2 hours with food, crafts, stories and activities, aimed to cross the generations.

Then on the 2nd, 3rd & 4th Sundays we have a 10.30 Service at St. Mary's (joint with St. Helen's church on the third Sunday) with two Service of The Word and one Communion a month. When there's a 5th Sunday we have a Special Joint Event - usually involving food!

We follow a Service Sheet each week but within that tend to have an informal, interactive style.  Musical Worship is led by St. Mary's Worship Group (pictured) and tends to be a mix of the best in current Contemporary Worship with a smattering of Traditional Music.

We try to make everyone welcome. If you have a wheelchair or a pram, or find steps difficult, then the rear entrance door has a ramp so that it's easy to get in.

There is always a friendly face on hand to show you to a seat, and we try to announce everything that goes on - so you won't find yourself standing up when everyone else sits down.

All the words to the service and the songs are displayed on a large screen at the front of the church.

After the morning service we serve coffee, tea and squash, and you're most welcome to join us.
